You can probably tell – we love talking about our team. Our next Meet the Team introduces our second Intern, Samantha! Samantha and Angus have quickly become the office dynamic duo, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. If you’re ever wondering who manages our Instagram, Samantha’s your girl. She’s a professional in-office photographer (in other words she loves taking creepy photos of the team at work).
Q: What’s your story?
I was born and raised in Burnaby, B.C. and pretty much plan to never leave. Of the two interns here at Hot Soup, I’m the annoying (fun) one. Just kidding. But I do love channeling my inner creativeness, whether it be through photography, blog writing, or anything in between. You can find me lurking around the office trying to get an artsy shot of the team for our social media platforms… I consider it dedication, ok?
I’m going into my last year at UBC’s Sauder School of Business as a marketing student. Go figure.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about working at Envol?
A: My favourite thing about working here is a bit more specific to my role. As an intern, I get to dip my toes into a wide range of projects. A splash of digital marketing here, a taste of content strategy there – I get a bit of everything. I never thought I’d get my hands dirty in so many areas of the agency, especially in such a short period of time. It’s been a roller coaster of a ride, but not one I’d want to get off!
Q: What makes you you?
A: I’ve always been keen to the fashion industry. Does this mean I dress nicely all the time? Absolutely not. But I do love to sew, photograph outfits, and keep up to date with fashion social media accounts. I used to want to be a fashion designer, now I think I want to be fashion marketer. That way, I can incorporate other things I love like photography and communication.
I’m also quite the sarcastic individual. I don’t think I can go 3 sentences without some form of it. Some call it sass, but I like to think of it as a sense of humour.
Q: What do you do when you’re not busy at work?
A: Recently, I’ve started experiencing Vancouver the way I assume most tourists do. I’ve been appreciating this city in all of its nature and beauty. I try to go on some sort of outdoor adventure twice a week and have been loving it so far!
I’m also an avid social media user. Mostly Instagram, but I did experiment with video making on YouTube for a year. I’m the girl that doesn’t let her colleagues eat donuts on National Donut Day until I’ve snapped an aesthetic photo to post online.
PS. Don’t stand in the way of people and their donuts. Still recovering.
Q: What are you great at?
A: Writing. I think I get better every day. I’ve really honed in on my lighthearted tone and style, and love using it whenever I can. With that being said, I’ve also been able to turn that style into professional writing – a newer skill of mine.
I’m full of creative ideas; some good, some not so good. But definitely full of them.
Q: Where’s your happy place?
A: This sounds sad, but bear with me. My happy place is my room. It’s small and quaint, and I redecorated it so it’s literally a cozy dream. Okay, maybe not literally.
To give an answer that’s slightly less sad, my favourite place is without a doubt Tahiti. It’s beautiful and calm, and despite the fact that it gave me a nasty sun burn, I always dream of going back.
Until next time!
You’ve officially met our two Interns – aren’t they a delight? Time with Angus and Samantha has flown by so fast, and they’ve grown so much since their first day. Tune back in soon for our next Meet the Team, there’s so much more talent to share with you!
