If you think that remote communication boils down to Zoom, Slack, and Email – think again!
Reminiscing on friendly office interactions isn’t uncommon. We miss being able to connect with each other in person and sometimes Zoom happy hours just doesn’t cut it.
Luckily, the shift to remote work has brought out some amazing new communication tools that support all kinds of remote-friendly interactions. Although it’s no replacement for the real thing, we think they’re pretty fun, and adding some extra personality to your communication.

Loom
Ever have trouble explaining something to a team member, and are dreading hopping on a Zoom call? Or maybe you’re having trouble training someone on how to use a new tool verbally. If that’s the case, try taking a video!
Loom lets you screen record and send videos through a simple link. This way, you can support your team by sharing important information that they can watch, save, and share. It makes it easier to train and collaborate when you’re not able to show someone something from your own screen.

Prezi
Prezi makes it easy to create visually engaging presentations with interactive visuals and templates! If you’re going into a team meeting or training session, try creating a Prezi instead of a usual slide show. It makes the presentation more fun and engaging and is especially valuable for visual learners.
Guusto
I don’t know about you, but the way to any Envol employee’s heart is through their stomach. With office snacks out of the picture, Guusto has created a platform that lets you send monthly gift cards to employees for perks like snacks, coffee, or even lunch! Although it’s not exactly a communication tool, it still helps keep the culture alive and make sure your team feels valued.

Ricotta Trivia
Ricotta Trivia lets you play trivia games with your team on Slack, create custom ice-breaker contests, and connect your team. You can play asynchronously so it doesn’t disrupt the team when they’re busy, plus it’s a fun way to de-stress remotely. If your team uses Slack, we definitely recommend giving it a try!

Bonus: Zoom Pictionary
Get creative with Zoom! Even though we’re trying to focus on new communication tools, Zoom has some fun features that your team will love. Recently, we played Pictionary using Zoom as a team and it was so fun!
You can play Zoom Pictionary using the whiteboard, annotations, and private chat features in Zoom. Share your screen and open the whiteboard option. Then have everyone open the Chat and turn on their annotations (View Options > Annotate). From there, everyone can draw on the whiteboard one at a time!
Our recommendation is to choose a theme and have one person host the trivia. Our theme for Pictionary was food and our host private messaged each player one at a time with their prompt.
This is a great way to break up the day and have a little fun together!
