Work-Sharing Program Overview

In response to COVID-19, the Government of Canada has made adjustments to the Work-Sharing Program.

This Work-Sharing Program Overview was published on April 2, 2020.

TL;DR

Keep staff employed where those in a defined working unit can share hours of work while qualifying for EI (if eligible) to top-up their income, where reduction of work is between 10% and 60% of normal working hours.

  • Funding Support: Up to $900 every two weeks (Maximum 76 weeks)
  • Type: Non-Repayable
  • Eligibility: Businesses, non-profits, and charities established for at least 1 year, staff participating must be EI eligible
